Big box retailers and most restaurants, I think I speak for most non-mask wearing customers when I say, “We hate you.”

In case you need it spelled out for you, good customer service does NOT include harassing your customers for not wearing a mask.

Good customer service also does NOT include ganging up and stalking your customers either.

Crazy?! I know!

Getting together with fellow co-workers and talking about your customers right in front of their face is not good customer service either.

Do I really need to write this all out for you?

Good customer service does NOT include asking, insisting or saying to your customers on a non-stop loop:

“Where is your mask?”

“Do you have a mask?”

And “Can I get a mask for you?”

What?!

Masks aren’t some luxury add on that enhances the shopping experience like complementary champagne when you are in boutique.

Masks are a sign of slavery.

Of suppression.

Of being silenced.

Of being compliant.

Of being a brainwashed zombie.

What the fuck is wrong with you?

People don’t want to be harassed when they are coming to your store or shop or restaurant — to spend money with you.

People don’t want to be ganged up on when they are visiting your location.

They also don’t want to be stalked as they walk around the store.

Or talked about either.

Or be given dirty looks.

And I’ll tell you another thing – most of these stores already have a “mask bouncer” at the door.

If someone is placed at the front door to tell everyone to “wear a mask,” tell your other employees to back off.

Your customers don’t need to be asked, “Do you have a mask?” by every braindead zombie that works for you.

I mean seriously, where’s the leadership at these stores?

Don’t you have some meeting with HR or your legal department that notifies you that people will be entering without masks on — and to BE NICE to customers.

Isn’t this customer service 101?

Or did that get blown out of the door when the fake virus came through?

And what about the managers of these stores?

Don’t you meet with your employees and tell them that only managers are to approach non-mask wearing people?

Or that only the “mask bouncer” at the front door is to ask people to put on their mask?

I don’t get it.

But then again I never do.

All of these stores are poorly managed with down and out employees and managers who hate their jobs, hate their lives, and have no power.

So when it comes an opportunity to assert some ego or control or some pretend power, they go after those of us who are easy targets — the ones who don’t wear a mask.

But I suggest you leave us the fuck alone.

Because it’s discrimination.

And harassment.

And stalking.

And just a wrong.

If you want to keep your businesses alive, you better get your act together and start treating all your customers with respect.

With honor.

With care.

And get back to basics — and start studying and implementing some customer service 101!
