I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos lately. Much more than I’ve ever watched. My topics have been on natural beauty skin treatments and gardening — and just recently pregnancy.
Anyway, I realize something and this is something I’ve realized before but it came over me more since I have been watching so many videos from all different kinds of people… and here it is.
They all have a supportive community.
And by that I mean that they all have tons of comments on their videos.
Now, of course the videos I’m watching – the ones that come in most frequently in the searches – are the ones that have been viewed by a lot of people and the ones that have the most comments.
So I don’t really know what to say about it, just that I don’t feel overall my community is supportive. I do feel they watch my videos. I do feel they watch me, but I don’t feel they are supportive. Actually most of them are very silent.
I also notice a different way that these people do the videos, they talk to their audience / come across like a friend – maybe less polished and more casual and real. I don’t think I come across like this. I’m more serious and formal and more from an expert stance. At least this is my perspective…
I also notice that some of them talk to specific audience members in their videos, welcome them to “the community” and some of them reply to comments…. not all of them, but I see replies.
This is also something that I don’t do and don’t want to do. At least I don’t think…
But again, this is how you build community, by being a friend. By putting in time and energy into relationships, and again this is something I realize about myself that I just don’t do.
Now I’m not a fan of making people do things… and especially not do things that don’t come natural to them as I feel each personality trait or whatever the thing is has a certain purpose.
So I’m just sharing these observations here with you….
The other thing that has been on my mind about all of this is this –
I think some people make an impact by making personal contact with each person (and yes, I know I was just writing about this with my LIVE events… but again I see this as different than virtual connections which I think are bullshit and unaccountable) and some people are here to help by reaching a larger audience.
I see this as my role.
To put out a video to reach millions of people would be a good use of my time.
Replying to each person’s comment on YouTube or via email would not be.
Maybe this is coming off as full of myself here, but I’m letting you know what’s been coming across to me. We are all here to play our special roles and again, for me, I’ve never been interested in putting a lot of energy into friend relationships, I’ve always been occupied with other things.
And that’s the thing that I was sharing awhile ago about matching to the energy of the people you hang out with. I believe I was able to rise in consciousness and growth so quickly because I was in a “cocoon” type environment (hmm… interesting how that’s the wording that just came out… stay tuned below for the connection here) where I was surrounded by my friends, Spirit.
Okay, so let me share how amazing that “cocoon” thing is and how it makes sense here and amazes me.
For the last two days, I’ve been witnessing a butterfly come out of its cocoon. It was right in my view in my apartment building and I noticed it right off the bat when it started doing it’s thing… I notice it each time I go to take Magic for a walk. Right there, there she is… coming out of her cocoon.
Now I get it. That’s me getting ready to fly. Interesting, cause I already thought I was coming out of my cocoon, but of course we go through this over and over again…. but I think this is related to my speeches and Martin Luther King and the violence videos. Wow. Very cool.
Butterfly Animal Symbolism
Overwhelmingly, cultural myth and lore honor the butterfly as a symbol of transformation because of its impressive process of metamorphosis.
Imagine the whole of your life changing to such an extreme you are unrecognizable at the end of the transformation. Mind you, this change takes place in a short span of about a month too (thats how long the butterfly life cycle is).
Herein lies the deepest symbolic lesson of the butterfly. She asks us to accept the changes in our lives as casually as she does. The butterfly unquestioningly embraces the chances of her environment and her body.
This unwavering acceptance of her metamorphosis is also symbolic of faith. Here the butterfly beckons us to keep our faith as we undergo transitions in our lives. She understands that our toiling, fretting and anger are useless against the turning tides of nature she asks us to recognize the same.
A quick-list of Butterfly animal symbolism:
- Resurrection
- Transition
- Celebration
- Lightness
- Time
- Soul
Transmutation, Dance of Joy. The butterfly is the symbol of change, joy and color. It is the symbol of the soul. They remind us that life is a dance, not to take things quite so seriously. They also remind us to get up and move. Dance brings the sweetness of life. They teach us that growth and transformation does not have to traumatic; it can occur gently, sweetly, joyfully.

This last one is great because I do feel it’s a time of joy for me. The dancing is interesting as that creative side to me has been coming out a lot more now, even in my work. Plus the last part there that growth and transformation doesn’t have to be traumatic, it can be gentle and sweet and joyful – again, yes, yes, yes… confirmation of that I have been sharing with you about what I have been learning, how to get my lessons and growth from joy and ease and laughter and fun.
Wow, incredible. I love it.
I would like to note as well that STORK continues to be around me.
Stork: Birth, Unspoken Communication (again, having to do with how Mother Earth, nature is working with me and talking to me, plus how I am encouraged to do more non-verbal communication to get my messages across in my business rather than explaining everything.. I blogged about this, check back if you want to re-read it,it had to do with lessons I learned from dog training). And then again, Stork is linked to the mysteries of sacred dance. This dance can awaken primal forces and energies. Just like with the butterfly above and how dance has been coming through in my work. Amazing.

And then the biggie from last night… well, one during the day SPIDER which I almost walked into while playing with Magic off a path… and then last night 3 yellow and black spiders were walking on me in my dream. Totally freaked me out and woke me up (just like the snakes always do when they appear in my dreams)
Spider knows that the past affects the future and vise versa. It calls us to make use of our creativity and weave our dreams into our destiny. Also generally accepted are the ideas that her “thread” connects the human world and the world of spirits or the “above world” and the “below world”.
I find this last line especially powerful this time around (as Spider has come to work with me before) and that is because I have mostly worked in the above world up until this point… and now the below world is coming out more plus the human world. They are all being tied in together these days. Incredible.

SPIDER . KEYNOTE – Creativity and the Weaving of Fate
Spider is the weaver of stories, dreams, illusions, fate. Spider is often seen as linking past to future. Spider teaches to maintain balance – between past and future – physical and spiritual – life and death. Spider teaches that what you do now, thoughts, actions, emotions, serve to weave your future – if Spider shows up, it may indicate it is time to access your deepest wisdom about this teaching and make it a part of your daily life
