As I’ve mentioned in previous posts you know that I have been watching basketball games on a regular basis.  This is something I used to love to do and I’ve been happy that I have the energy and interest to do it again.

So this falls into the category of learning lessons from play and enjoyment, grace and ease….

1 – Going out to watch basketball is really good for me.  I have to focus on clearing and shielding my energy since a bar is a harsh environment.  Plus I have to do this because there is so much sensory stimulation going on…. cigarettes… people talking to one another…. people talking to me…. noticing people in the bar…. picking up impressions that way…. tv noise… music playing.  So much going on.  Totally harsh environment.  I have to practice turning most of it “off”

2 – I also have to focus on grounding the excited energy that I feel – the rush of excitement that I feel in going out again.  Like I had shared, I haven’t gone out like this in a long time.  Yes, my ex and I went out but we were always in our own world and didn’t do many activities like this at night – I got out of that routine due to laziness, non-interest, and cause I was becoming too sensitive and crowds tend to bother me.  Now, when I am getting ready to go out I sense that huge rush of energy, that excitement – it’s good practice for me to bring it through my body and ground it, rather than letting it rattle and blow my circuits.

3 – Also, in being in the bar there are men who come to approach me — or try to approach me.  This is a typical thing that women have to deal with but I haven’t dealt with this in a really long time – I would say over 3 years ago and even then I wasn’t hanging out in this type of place at all or frequently.  I had lost interest.  So now being back in a place like this, as the new, more psychic me, I pick up on guy’s energy in a different way.  I’m picking up more their desire to talk to me or their upset when I walk away or things along those lines (this goes along with my new friend as well, as I don’t want to hang out with him each time I go to watch a basketball game, I like to talk to many different guys and meet new and different people) – so I have to consciously disconnect from other people’s feelings.  I usually pick up their desire to speak to me and then their upset or frustration in trying to get my attention.  This has been lingering a bit more than I would like (especially with my new friend as I have had to play around with how I would like our relationship to be — and NOT be).  It’s a bit hard to explain, but it’s an energetic thing of somehow cutting the connection to each of these guys, remove myself from picking up their perceptions, and not being responsible or taking ownership of THEIR feelings.

I’m still working on this one.

4 – And then on just a final note, about the players of basketball… I root for the Heat since I live here in the Miami area.  Personally, I think they are a terrible team.  I like a team that has better shooters and doesn’t have to always go up to the net to make these little itty bitty shots, but anyway, that’s minor.  My point is, I don’t really like the Heat.  Anyway, what I have noticed here each time I watch them that they tend to miss A LOT of shots.  They really kind of stink (again, in my opinion).  They miss free throws, which are pretty standard in basketball and you know it’s something that they practice all the time – but yet they miss these shots over and over and over and over again.  But here’s the deal.  They are still “pros” – they are a professional team.  The players miss shots over and over again, yet they still try.  Yet they still have fans.  Yet they are still considered good players.  So I know we’ve heard this before about Edison discovering the lightbulb and how he learned however many ways NOT to do light and then finally found the one way to do it… but this just made me think about business and life a bit differently.  Again, I know we’ve all heard this saying to keep getting up and keep trying, but it just makes me look at my career differently – when I see these pro players really sucking at shooting the ball – yet they are still famous, making loads of money, and considered professionals.  They are wanted players to be on your team.  People love them.  They are considered great.

So, no need to be a perfectionist or get annoyed that you keep trying to do something in your business or in life over and over and over again and that it’s not working the way you want – you just keep doing it.

You don’t see the players getting annoyed that they missed (who knows what they are thinking) – but they have the attitude (at least from the outside and this is how I’m interpreting it) that they tried it… they went for it… and they’ll keep going for the basket – and that one or two or three or whatever of the shots they try, will get in.

One of the star players that people have jerseys of, a popular player – well he only got in 8 of the 12 shots (at one point in the game) that he had attempted.  Only 8.

So, if that works for him…. if that’s considered a pro… or a basketball “expert” in his field… then the same applies to me and to you.

No big whoop.  You just keep shooting – you try, try, and try again – and you keep playing the game.

End of story.
